Fight Back with Acne Face Wash

Everybody wants a beautiful complexion but even older adults sometimes find that they need an acne face wash. Pollution, hormone imbalances and overuse of makeup can all cause acne. Acne is a disfiguring embarrassment that we all want to be rid of as soon as possible!

Why a Special Acne Face Wash?

There are special ingredients in face washes formulated to treat acne, ones that you can’t find in plain soap and water or facial scrubs. Salicylic acid is the main ingredient used to fight acne because it can dissolve the oils and dirt that build up in your pores and cause those unsightly pimples. Your face wash should list 2% salicylic acid as an active ingredient.

Acne is actually small infections in your skin pores. Treating it with the proper medicine is important to prevent the spread of those infections and clear them up so that they don’t leave unsightly scarring.

You should use your face wash just once a day. Too much salicylic acid can put the oils in your face out of balance and cause even more acne.

Fight Acne Effectively

While you find yourself in need of a way to get rid of an acne outbreak, there are many things you can do to avoid it in the first place. Acne occurs because a pore is blocked by dirt, oil or makeup and becomes infected. Teenagers who have oily skin are particularly susceptible to acne.

People often make the mistake of using harsh treatments on their faces or washing their faces several times per day. This can cause your body to think it has a shortage of oil to protect your face and it will produce more, clogging pores and causing eruptions.

An Ounce of Prevention

You may need to change your hairstyle, too. Hair is full of oil and may clog your pores where it touches the face. Avoid bangs or cuts that allow your hair to touch your cheeks or jawline.

Spending a lot of time in the sun will also give your body a signal that it needs to produce more oil. Try to wear a wide-brimmed hat if you’ll be in the sun for more than a few minutes.

Finally, use hypoallergenic makeup or better still, none at all. Foundation is the worst culprit when it comes to acne, especially if you use it to cover up an outbreak!

Using a Face Wash Properly

If your face feels dirty during the daytime you can rinse it in warm water but save your special face wash for bedtime if you want to use it to your best advantage. If you use it just before turning in your pores will be able to fight that acne in a clean environment with a calm body.

You may also want to begin your day with your acne face wash but it isn’t advisable to use it any more than every twelve hours. Following the proper steps for prevention and treating acne as soon as it appears will keep outbreaks to a minimum.
